To the editor: Re: "Angry in South Attleboro" (April 14):
I completely agree with Joseph Drazek as to what South Attleboro is becoming. I have been working towards cleaning up South Attleboro over the last few years by planning and executing several area local community cleanups with Recreation Director Dennis Walsh.
When I announced my candidacy about a year ago for city council, part of my commitment was to clean up South Attleboro and improve the quality of life for all residents. Two weeks ago, I set a date for the annual South Attleboro Community Cleanup (Saturday June, 13).
I am not planning this cleanup because I am a candidate. I am planning this because I value our community and what it should it offer all of us. South Attleboro is a proud community and we must work together for a beautiful community which we can all be proud to call our home.
South Attleboro has a thriving business community that brings in major tax dollars for our city, yet we are under-represented on the city council.
I commend Council President Frank Cook for putting together a special committee for this issue. I hope that some effective changes come out of the special committee. South Attleboro lacks a voice on the city council which fully represents our needs, South Attleboro lacks a voice that stands up for our district.
I stand ready to engage, listen and work for the people of South Attleboro if I am elected in November to city council. I understand public service, I understand the kind of person that it takes to be a good elected official. I will bring new energy which will than translate into a new Attleboro.
I have committed my life to public service through my involvement with several local charities. South Attleboro can be what it once was, a beautiful community with a thriving business sector that offers our residents a beautiful place to call home.
Accountability and accessibility are the keys to being a successful representative and that is exactly what I am committed to.
